ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A man on a quest for speed loses his life after losing control of his car, according to Allentown police.

The driver plowed into several vehicles across two dealerships on Lehigh Street just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, leaving a trail of damage, police say.

The only damage still visible is the plywood covering the broken windows of the Bennett Infiniti Dealership. One man is dead, and people who saw it say it was shocking.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Rob Bennett, President of the Bennett Automotive Group.

The violence of the crash mirrored the path of a tornado, stretching out the length of a football field.

The out-of-control car smashed signs, lightpoles, and tents before crashing to a stop.

“If you blinked your eyes, you missed it,” said Bennett, who said he didn’t see the crash but watched the security video of the car crashing through his lots.

Bennett says he won’t release it out of respect for the victim’s family.

“The damage can be repaired. It could have been a lot worse,” Bennet said. “I’m just so sad for the loss and the family that’s going to suffer.”

The driver, identified by the Lehigh County Coroner as 27-year-old Abeil Adilow of Philadelphia, died from multiple traumatic injuries.

The deadly crash took place on one of the Lehigh Valley’s busiest streets. Eddie Elliott travels this route every morning.

“Lots of people are driving in a hurry, impatient. Just gotta stay safe, man,” said Elliott.

“It’s just unbelievable, someone driving that speed in the city of Allentown,” Bennett said.

No word yet on why the driver was going so fast.

The Allentown Traffic Safety Unit is also investigating the case.
