LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Jack Kain, a Ford dealer since 1959 and the founder of Jack Kain Ford in Versailles, passed away Tuesday night.

Kain’s family says he had been battling cancer and was 94 years old.

They say he started selling cars part-time while a student at the University of Kentucky in 1947.

In more than six decades in business Jack Kain Ford says it has served more than 70,000 customers.

His son says his dedication to his community, family, friends, and customers left an indelible mark.

“I think the community cares about his passing because he cared so much about the community,” said Jack’s son, Bob Kain. “He went out of his way his entire life to support the community to make it a better community. There’s so many different endeavors that he did for Woodford County and central Kentucky that people don’t even know about.”

Jack Kain also once served as chairman of the National Automobile Dealers Association.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
