A driver was extricated and transported to the hospital after crashing his SUV into a car dealership, causing visible damage, in Crystal Lake Thursday afternoon.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department and Crystal Lake Police Department responded just before 2 p.m. Thursday to Ormsby Motors, 50 North Main Street, for a vehicle crash.

Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Rick Kaiser said crews received a report of a vehicle that crashed into the building.

The business was in operation at the time of the incident.

Firefighters arrived in under four minutes and found a vehicle partially in the business, Kaiser said.

The male driver of the vehicle was removed from the car and transported to a local hospital for observation.

Kaiser said there were no injuries to the occupants or customers of the business.

ComEd, Nicor Gas and the Crystal Lake Building Department were called to the scene.

A board-up company was also notified and responded to secure the business where the damage occurred, Kaiser said.

The crash left a large hole visible in a brick wall on the side of the building.

The business was allowed to remain operational and the damage did not affect the structural integrity of the building.

The Crystal Lake Police Department has not said what led to the crash.
