The 2024 Subaru BRZ range will be $3500 more expensive than the 2023 model when it arrives in showrooms in January next year.

Leading the updates to Subaru’s sports coupe is a new tS flagship variant – with upgraded suspension and brakes – plus the addition of key advanced safety technology to manual BRZ models.

Prices have risen by $3500 for manual variants, and $700 for the automatics – closing the gap between the transmissions from $3800 to $1000.

The top-of-the-range tS – believed to be a permanent member of the range rather than a limited edition – is the most expensive Subaru BRZ ever sold in Australia, priced close to $50,000 before on-road costs with an automatic transmission.

Standard on manual-transmission variants for 2024 are autonomous emergency braking (AEB) forwards and reverse, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control.

These features – including AEB, which is standard on Australia’s cheapest new car at $19,000 drive-away, and will become mandatory for all new passenger vehicles sold locally from March 2025 – were previously exclusive to the automatic variants.

Meanwhile, the tS has been added at the top of the range for a $3600 premium over equivalent Coupe S variants with manual and automatic transmissions.

It gains STI-tuned (suspension) dampers, larger brake discs with four-piston front and two-piston rear Brembo calipers in gold, dark grey wheels, black accents, tS badges, a red and black interior, and STI branding on the engine-start button, seats and instrument cluster.

The engine is unchanged, a 2.4-litre non-turbo petrol four-cylinder developing 174kW and 250Nm. It powers the rear wheels through a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The tS is available in the same colours as the rest of the range: Crystal White Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic, Ignition Red, WR Blue Pearl, Sapphire Blue Pearl, Magnetite Grey Metallic, and Crystal Black Silica.

The 2024 Subaru BRZ is available to order now ahead of showroom arrivals starting in January, pending any delays.
