The 2024 Genesis G70 line-up in Australia has been reduced to just two variants – and the price of entry to the range has increased by more than $5000.

The second update for the G70 has cut the range to two models: a 2.0-litre four-cylinder ‘Shooting Brake’ wagon, and a 3.3-litre V6 sedan.

In the previous range, eight variants on offer when cost-option packages were factored in.

While the least-expensive 2023 Genesis G70 (in turbocharged 2.0-litre sedan guise) was priced from $63,000 plus on-road costs, the ‘entry-level’ 2024 G70 is now the $81,000 plus on-road costs Shooting Brake wagon.

The G70 wagon is now $2000 more expensive on its own – compared to the same model last year – and now only available with the Sport Line and Luxury packs, the former of which was previously a no-cost option, and the latter already standard.

Price of entry to the flagship 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 G70 has also increased significantly, now starting from $88,000 plus on-road costs – a rise of $12,124, as the top-of-the-range sedan is equipped as standard with the Luxury pack, previously a $10,000 option.

Despite the revised G70 being sold with a new 224kW/422Nm 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine overseas – replacing the existing 2.0-litre unit – Australian buyers will not receive the more powerful offering.

As such, the G70 wagon continues to be powered by a 179kW/353Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine, while the 274kW/510Nm 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 remains exclusive to the sedan – both sending drive to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

In addition to the G70’s new looks – as detailed when it was unveiled in May – the model is now fitted with a 6.0-inch LCD touchscreen for its climate controls, a new Electronic Control Suspension system for the sedan, speed sign recognition, Genesis Connected Services and over-the-air (OTA) updates.

The 2024 Genesis G70 is due in Australian showrooms now.
