Two were arrested and two are wanted in an attempted car thefts from a Lenawee County dealership where two vehicles were stolen last week, officials said.

Michigan State Police said investigators believe the two incidents are connected.

They said troopers, Lenawee County Sheriff’s deputies, and a Madison Township police officer at about 1:20 a.m. Thursday saw four men wearing ski masks enter the parking lot of the CR Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership at 1211 East US-223 Highway.

Authorities watched the suspects try to break into vehicles in the dealership’s front parking lot, they said.

Troopers, deputies, and the officer approached the suspects, but the four people ran away, according to police.

They gave chase and found one of the suspects hiding in the garbage dumpster of a nearby business. Police said another suspect was arrested after a traffic stop in the city of Adrian.

Both were taken to the Lenawee County Jail to await charges.

Officials said the investigation into the attempted theft is ongoing and they are still looking for the other two suspects.

The arrests came about three days after three men were caught on the dealership’s security cameras stealing two Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack Swinger vehicles, according to Michigan State Police. They said three suspects entered the dealership and took a silver Charger and a baby blue Charger from the showroom floor.
